1. Open the Piktographic Web Site and name your project. Make sure you use the naming convention (the way I told you to) for this: last name, first name, small topic.
2. Pick a free (not pro) design template and play. Well, not really but you need to work in the program for a little while to understand what it can do and how to do it. Practice moving things around: deleting, adding, editing. Try the buttons and see what will happen.
Couple of neat things- when you work on this website, it automatically saves things for you. It saves your work; you don't have to worry about battery failure or losing you work. You can work safely from anywhere; it is web based.
3. Once you are comfortable, start creating the look you want. This program allows to you do a lot of things, but like was stated earlier it combines the ideas of several different presentation types. It is like a sign without the hardware. It is like poster without the glue and the ink. It is like a video in that it can be seen online. It is like a flyer without the folding.
It can be published online, printed in black and white and hung up, printed in color and displayed or shared as a file (you will do this and we will display them as well).
4. Once you have a design in mind, you can cut and paste information out of your report, out of vocabulary list, out of your web searches. You have already done a lot of work... use it.
5. Be creative! Put in maps, charts and change things up. Remember this is for impact and interest. Be sure you stand out!
6. When you have completed your chart, publish it. There are three buttons on the top right. One is add, one is style and one is publish. Click on this and... you will be asked to pick a format. You need to choose jpeg. After you have saved it, go to your files and make sure you can open it. It should be fine, but lets make sure.
